This is a MONITORING mode where the IBT-300 test set replaces the NT1. One side is connected to the U interface (2 wires) while the other side is connected to the S0/T0 interface (4 wires).

(3) U (2B1Q) repeater
The IBT-300 test set is bridged on the U interface: one side is connected to the LT (Central Office) and the other side to the NT1.

(1) S2/T2 monitoring 
This is a MONITORING mode where the IBT-300 test set is connected in high impedance on the S2/T2 interface to non-intrusively monitor the content of the D/B channels.

(2) U2/G.704 monitoring
This application allows you to use the tester on an E1 link: in this case, the receiver sensitivity is extended to 35 dB (instead of 20 dB for S2/T2 monitor).

(3) PMP monitor
This application allows you to monitor a Primary Rate Access when a Protected Monitoring Point (PMP) is provided to protect the line for in-service maintenance.

WARNING: As most of the NT1's cannot operate without power on the U interface (around 90V is needed), you must use the adapter K2512 and two cables K2508. Plug the adapter K2512 into connector [21] on the right-hand side of the instrument.
One cable K2508 is used to connect the IBT-300 to the line (U interface), while the other K2508 is used to connect to an AC/AC adapter to supply the requested voltage.

  -> Run the basic ISDN test with its current parameters
  -> Run the basic ISDN test with a profile (if you have already defined some).

 F5: RUN
Starts the test sequence.

PURPOSE: This test provides a test of the quality of an ISDN access. The evaluation can be performed using the G.821 recommendation or with a simple method by using a threshold.

     'Failed':     The call could not be established or released with an abnormal cause.
  
     'Available':   The supplementary service is available on the access. So the customer can use it.
     
     'Unavailable': The supplementary service is not available on the access. So the customer will not able to use it.

     '????':        The test procedure provides no definitive answer as to service availability.

In this mode, the IBT-300 tries to systematically call back any address for which a call was set-up.

Once you have selected the parameters, press F5 to start. The IBT-300 will display information regarding the calls.

If you want to get a GRAPHICAL VIEW, press the STATUS key (the unmarked key on the left-hand side below the screen). Then press {F1: Matrix} to display the B-channel matrix.

The IBT-300 offers an unattended mode for automatic acceptance of one incoming call.

Press {F5: Run} to start the test.

To use a predefined profile, first use {F1: Profile} to enter the profile manager then select one profile from the list and press {F1: Load} to apply it.

 F2: RESET
Resets the filters to the default configuration (no-filters).

 F3: READ
Allows you to load a monitoring or a trace file from the file manager application for off-line analysis.

 F5: RUN
Starts the on-line monitoring of the ISDN access.

When you have defined filters (if necessary), press {F5: RUN} to start monitoring the ISDN access.

Use these softkeys to listen to a specific B channel for AUDIO MONITOR.

 F3: SUSP/RESU
Once the analysis has begun, you can freeze the display by pressing F3 (the instrument keeps capturing data). To resume press F3 again.

 F4: BREAK
To stop capturing, press F4. Then you can perform an off-line analysis using different filters and store the captured data in a file.

(PART -3) OFF-LINE ANALYSIS

To navigate through the file you can move one page up or down by using ALT+UP or ALT+DOWN. 
To jump directly to a line, type the number of the line on the keypad and press Enter.

The default display mode is SUMMARY. To enter the DETAILED mode, press Enter.

(PART -4) SAVING AND RETRIEVING MONITORING FILES

Press { F2: Store } to store the capture in a file. The file manager application allows you to create/rename and delete directories so you can choose where you want to store the file.
Later on you can view a file using the read function (See PART -2).

            *** D-channel monitoring on PC with ISDNpartner ***

The IBT-300 can be used as a high-end D-channel analyzer on PC when combined with the ISDNpartner software (Expert System).
Connect the IBT-300 to a PC using the K766 cable. You can define the bitrate of the serial port by choosing <Preferences > Serial Port > Baud Rate> from the menu bar (press the MENU key to make this menu bar appear on top of the screen).

 F5: RUN/BREAK
To start the synchronization with the ISDNpartner software, press F5. The display shows 'Synchronizing' while connecting to the ISDNpartner application. Then use ISDNpartner to perform an expert analysis.
